WHERE IS TEMPLE BAR LOCATED IN RELATION TO DUBLIN CITY?
Temple Bar, Dublin�s Cultural Quarter is located on the south side of the River Liffey and its riverside fringe includes by Aston Quay, Wellington Quay and Wood Quay. Its eastern fringe comprises Westmoreland Street and College Green (Bank of Ireland) and its southern fringe includes Dame Street and Lord Edward Street. Roughly speaking the key landmarks at Temple Bar�s boundaries include the Bank of Ireland/Trinity College, Christchurch Cathedral and the river from O�Connell bridge to the Civic Office blocks at Wood Quay.

Temple Bar occupies approximately 13 hectares (28 acres) and is home to over 3,000 residents, 400 businesses and over 50 arts and cultural organisations and is within walking distance from Grafton Street, Trinity College, St Stephens Green and O�Connell Street.

WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION ON TEMPLE BAR WHEN I ARRIVE?
The Temple Bar Cultural Information Centre is located at 12 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 and is open all year round including weekends and lunchtimes. Full list of opening hours below -

Winter Timetable Mon-Fri: 9-5.30 pm, Sat: 10 -5.30pm, Sun: 12-3

Summer Timetable Mon-Fri: 9-5.30pm, Sat: 10-6 pm, Sun: 12-3 pm

ARE THERE ANY CULTURAL ACTIVITIES IN TEMPLE BAR FOR CHILDREN?
Temple Bar Cultural Trust run a wide range of FREE outdoor events during the year. Dublin Circus Festival will take place from the 10th - 13th July 2008 and all events are FREE but some require collection of free tickets or advance booking. Also check out The Ark � A Children�s Cultural Centre www.ark.ie on Eustace Street where you will find workshops and shows for all ages.

WHERE DID TEMPLE BAR GET ITS NAME?
Temple Bar was named after Sir William Temple whose residence and gardens stood on the site in the 17th century.

These publications can be purchased by calling in to the Temple Bar Cultural Information Centre at 12 East Essex Street. Please note we do not accept debit or credit cards.


DO YOU HAVE A TELEPHONE NUMBER WHERE I CAN GET INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE?
The Temple Bar Cultural Information Centre at 12 East Essex Street is a walk-in public information service. Our Culture Line will be open from July to September - here you can speak to a dedicated team of Cultural Information Advisors on all of our events - 01 888 3610. If you would like to contact Temple Bar Cultural Trust we can be contacted at 01 677 2255, but please appreciate that we are unable to provide a comprehensive telephone information service.

CAN YOU SMOKE IN THE PUBS AND RESTAURANTS IN TEMPLE BAR?
No. Dublin is now Europe's first smoke free capital city! Since March 29th 2004, a smoking ban in the work place has been in force. The primary purpose of the ban, which has been a popular success, is to protect to workers and the public who are exposed to harmful environmental tobacco smoke. Dublin pubs, night clubs, restaurants and cafés are now smoke free zones. Definitive information on the scope of the ban is available through this URL

We manage a number of weekly specialist open-air markets including food (Saturday), books & records (Saturday & Sunday), Designer Mart at Cow's Lane(Saturday).
